The Shifting Sands of Time
Hello Panache People,
If you have ever wondered how much subtle color changes over time matter, here’s a picture that will show you. Wearing “natural” lipstick is fine but it still has to be the correct tones for your coloring. In the photo on the left, the model is wearing flattering makeup colors and a top that work for her skin tones. In the photo on the right, she is wearing warmer tones that make her look drab and older, washed out.
HOT TIP I: You definitely still need color, in fact, now more than ever. If your own coloring has softened, so should your clothing colors (makeup and hair color too!). If you once looked great in fuchsia, try orchid or rose tones. If orange was your hot color, likely light orange or melon will suit you better. Depending on your particular skin tone some version of cool or warm gray will be more flattering than solid black for your basic neutral. See my color chart post HERE.
HOT TIP II: Guys, this applies to you too! Most men wear more neutrals and colors. As your coloring changes and softens (gray hair, softer eye color, etc.), your neutrals should change and you should add more colors in your shirts, but they need to be the right colors or you will just look like you are trying too hard.
As we get older, our hair color and skin tones change. This happens over time and all of a sudden the clothes you used to love don’t work for you. NOT FAIR! To keep a proper prospective, you need to know the colors that work for you now, in the present moment. Hint: If your hair color has changed you likely need a readjustment of your colors.
Take a good look in the mirror to see if you need help determining whether you need a color tune up or a whole new color palette. If so, let me know so we can set an appointment to boost your natural vitality and show off your joie de vivre!
Warm regards from your Personal Stylist,
